Many campers love camping with their families, including their kids. Children are wonderful, but camping can be so much more enjoyable if you know what to bring or do with your kids next time you go camping. We have found some products and activities that you may find helpful for your next time camping.

Activities:

  1. Decorate your own walking sticks! Kids will love this, and they can use them after they make them on their hikes. Use a real stick or a store-bought one, then decorate them with paint, tape, or even glue some leaves on there!
  2. Go old school and catch some fireflies in mason jars!
  3. Download the Backyard Scat & Tracks app to your phone, and you and your kids can have a blast recognizing different animal tracks and birds.
  4. Speaking of phone apps, there is another app called “Explore the Universe” where you can point your phone at the sky and see all the different stars and constellations–kind of like a telescope!
  5. Gather ’round the campfire and make some delicious campfire monkey bread or roast some hot dogs! Classic but fun!
  6. Two words to keep your kids entertained for a while–glow sticks. Bring these with and you can play various games with them such as glow-in-the-dark bowling, glow-in-the-dark ring toss, or even decorate the picnic table with glow sticks for a fun dinner!
  7. Go for a hike, find some leaves, sticks, whatever you can find and have your kids create nature crafts out of their items (for example, leaf elephant). You may be surprised at what they create!

Products:

  1. A portable high chair–looks just like a camping chair, only it’s a high chair–awesome!
  2. Another great thing to bring or purchase is a hand washing station. Kids love to get dirty, so make sure to keep them clean!
  3. Bring a toy tub full of all your kids’ favorite toys, especially camping related ones, so you can transport them from home to the campground with ease.
  4. If you’re tent camping, then be sure to bring a family size tent. Also, foam floor tiles can make the floor crawl-friendly for your toddlers!
  5. Don’t forget the basics–bug spray, sunscreen, anti-itch cream!
  6. Also, a large umbrella can come in handy even on sunny days for shade. Otherwise use them to stay outdoors even when it’s raining.
  7. Last but not least, Bounce dryer sheets you say? Yes, for those who don’t know, these dryer sheets tend to keep the bugs away. Just stick them in your kids’ pockets!
